Woman putting in alignerWould you like to smile more and with greater self-confidence? Are crooked or gapped teeth keeping you from putting your best face forward? Invisalign may be the answer to the smile of your dreams!

An Alternative to Traditional Braces

While conventional metal braces do an effective job of straightening teeth, they are unattractive, cumbersome, and often uncomfortable. With Invisalign, you simply wear a series of clear, comfortable aligners, which will gently straighten your teeth. Perhaps the most attractive benefit of Invisalign is that it’s practically invisible, so no one has to know you’re wearing aligners, unless you tell them, of course.

What’s Involved in Getting Invisalign?

The process is fairly simple and straightforward. When you come in for your first appointment, we will take X-rays, pictures and moulds of your teeth from which a digital 3D plan of your mouth will be created. It will display how your teeth will gently move into place during each phase of your treatment. Once approved, this plan is then used to construct the series of aligners to gradually move the teeth into the planned desired positions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an alternative to traditional braces utilising clear custom-made aligners. You’ll obtain a straighter smile with Invisalign by gradually moving your teeth into the desired position. You’ll find the aligners are comfortable to wear and nearly invisible – most people won’t notice you are wearing them. You can remove them to brush your teeth or to attend a special occasion.

How Does it Work?

Using advanced 3D technology, we will map the movements your teeth will go to on their way to a straighter smile and make you a custom aligner for each stage. You simply just change your aligners every two weeks to help your teeth gradually move.

How Long Will Treatment Take?

Every person is different and so is Invisalign treatment. The average time is between 12 – 14 months but it can range from six months to two years.

Will Invisalign Treatment Be Painful?

Though the treatment overall is very comfortable, most people report a feeling of ‘pressure’ and minor discomfort at the start of each new treatment stage.

What Are the Aligner Made Of?

Your aligners will consist of a medical grade, non-toxic plastic. The appearance is nearly invisible and smooth.

Will Weather the Aligner Affect my Speech?

You may find there is a small period of getting used to the aligners. You may lisp for a day or two but it will quickly pass. It’s just a case of your tongue getting used to having the aligner in your mouth.

How Often Do I Have to See my Destist?

Once in treatment, you will need to schedule regular appointments with your dentist or orthodontist which will usually occur every 6-8 weeks. It is necessary to check-in with your treating dentist to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned as well as continuing with your routine examinations and hygiene appointments.

What is the Minimum Age that Invisalign can Treat?

Generally, teenagers over the age of 14 are eligible. The main requirement is that their 2nd molars have fully erupted.

How Much Does Invisalign Cost?

The cost of Invisalign is comparable to traditional braces. Once you come in for a consultation we can advise you of the cost based on your specific needs. Some factors such as treatment time, the difficulty of your case and treatment goals will influence the overall cost.

Does Insurance Cover Invisalign?

If your insurance policy covers orthodontics it should cover your Invisalign treatment. It’s always a good idea to check your policy and ask your provider for more information to be sure.
